About Me

I was born in London in 1970 but grew up in Cornwall.
I studied Ceramics at Edinburgh College of Art 1990-94 gaining an BA(Hons) in '93, and a PGDip in '94.

The following year saw travel to Hungary funded by The Princes Trust, and collaboration with various glass and ceramic artists at Kecskemet International Ceramics Studio, and Pecs Art School. A summer spent working in a pottery in the South of France developed Raku skills and a deeper understanding of production pottery disciplines.

Travel and two children took my focus for the next few years. Most work was centered around providing workshops and teaching although I still managed to make smaller scale pieces.

A move to a new studio in 2006 allowed me to continue making on a larger scale and really start exploring the forms I am working on currently. More infomation about these pieces can be found in the Archive gallery.
I also like to experiment with glazes and firing techniques.
Raku, as a process, is a dynamic, speedy way to understand how a material reacts to heat. When removed from the kiln the pots are alive with combustion and I enjoy the challenge of controlling fire and smoke using various post-reduction techniques.
