This series of ceramics explores the dramatic landscape, changing weather and shifting light of the West Coast of Scotland. My inspiration comes from regular visits to the Western Isles, where you practically absorb the elemental nature of this land. Rich blues, sandy greys with touches of purple and bronze are used to evoke heather and bracken on the rocky landscape, flanked by brooding steel grey skies and cobalt seas. I use layers of contrasting glazes to build depth and intensity, giving the impression of floating headlands between sea and sky.
The range comprises of the ever popular whisky nips and cups, square plates and round bowls in varying sizes, available individually or in sets from Michelle's Etsy shop, MYHCeramics. For commissions contactMichelle directly to have a chat.
